agreed that, with immediate effect, the DCUK Discussion Page will be
shut down indefinitely. A new forum has been set up by drum corps fan
Tim Robson.
In February 2006, the DCUK
Board Of Trustees agreed to make the DCUK/WGUK Discussion Page a log in
to view messages as well as to post messages service. This didn't keep
the anonymous posters out. As a result, the discussion page was shut
down indefintely.
The new forum,
set up by Tim Robson, has the same format as the 'Discussion Group UK'
that was active a few months ago. "I thought DCUK discussion page was a
great thing", said Robson. "It did exactly what its name suggested, it
instigated discussion. But its disappointing to see that DCUK have
pulled the plug on this in a time when I think it is needed more than
ever."
Robson says he will be able to monitor his forum a lot. "If things get
nasty I will remove the offensive posts but I will not remove the
entire thread. I am all for discsussion and freedom of speech. I will
not remove messages simply because people disagree with them. The fact
that somebody makes a point in the first place is enough evidence for
me that the message should remain."
