DCUK 2006 schedule has been amended
The schedule for the Drum Corps United Kingdom 2006 season has been amended, from seven shows to five plus Finals. The first show of the season, due to be held at Grantham on June 4th, has been cancelled.
Due to circumstances beyond DCUK's control, the Grantham venue is no longer available. Due to the short notice and the logistical and financial difficulties that would be faced, the difficult decision has been taken to cancel the Grantham show. The first show of the season will therefore become Warrington, on 18th June.
Despite best endeavours, DCUK has been unable to find a sponsor for the last show of the season, due to be held at Alexandra Stadium in Birmingham. This, and the current level of membership, were transpiring to place all shows in the second half under threat. Therefore the decision has been made to cancel the show due to be held on September 10th. The venue for this show, Newport, will now be used for the last show of the season on September 17th.
Due to the current level of membership and the financial pressures that it places on DCUK the decision has also been taken to dispense with Open Class prelims at this years Finals. This will mean a shorter and less costly day for Corps, members, supporters and DCUK and its staff.
DCUK Chairman Gavin Johnsons said that it is hoped that DCUK will be in a position to announce a new venue for the DCUK Championships as soon as possible.
