The current DCE A-Class co-champion entered the Division III Prelims, reaching the 13th position out of 20 corps.
On August 6th, Strängnäs entered a DCI show in Manchester - New Hampshire. Out of 10 corps, Strängnäs reached the 7th place, scoring big on the music captions. The corps came in third on Music Effect, in front of corps like Capital Sound, Recolution and Dutch Boy.
Jonas Hoglund, 19, is from Nykvarn, Sweden. He's been with Strängnäs for three years. The first year he played bass drum, and for the last two years he has played snare. "We've been in the United States since August 4th. It's awesome! It's my first year here with the drum corps, although I've been in the states before."
The corps started practicing on the 11th of June, five times a week, three hours a day. On the weekends they practice for about eight hours per day. "It's a pretty tough schedule, since I have to work as well", Hoglund said. It costs 500,000 Swedish Crowns, which is over 50,000 euros, for the corps to come to the United States. That includes everythingâ??food, airfare, travel.
On September 24th, Strängnäs will defend their A-Class title at the DCE European Championships in Rotterdam - The Netherlands. (Courtesy: dci.org)
