Tallaght YB and Ravens are Irish champions
The Tallaght Youth Band Marching Vikings and Ravens Marching Showband have been crowned Irish champions in the Premier Class and Junior Class respectively. The scores are considerably higher than at last year's championships.
The Championships of the Irish Marching Bands Association were held last Saturday in Clonmel. The Clonmel Bluehawks defended their Premier Class title and only missed it by 0.35 points. Both corps raised their score from the mid 50s last year to over 60 this year: Tallaght YB scored 63.40 and the Clonmel Bluehawks 63.05.
Clondalkin Youth Band ended in third place (52.05), followed by Tallaght Festival Band (47.90) and Inbhear Mór Marchers (43.70). While Ravens Marching Showband took top honours in the Junior Class (72.90), Athlon Town Youth Marching Band came second (61.00). The European score chart can be found here.
Both champions will appear at the DCE European Championships in Kerkrade on Saturday 29th September.
