Mayflower to return to WGI
Mayflower will return to the WGI arena in 2010. The guard will once again perform in the Independent World Class, competing against the world's elite colour guards. Mayflower last appeared in WGI competition in 2005.
In 2003 Mayflower became only the second non North American guard to make WGI World Class finals, placing 11th with their haunting show, 'Hallelujah'. In what will be his 9th season with Mayflower, Michael Shapiro will once again write the programme for the guard.
In preparation for its return to WGI, 2009 sees the guard tackling an ambitious programme entitled 'Dirty Man', using the music of Joss Stone as well as an original composition by Daniel Suett. The 2009 show sees the guard being challenged with the typical trademark equipment and movement styles that Michael Shapiro is now famed for.
