Pride of Bristol partners with Filton College
Pride of Bristol are please to announce that they have entered into a Strategic Partnership with local education centre Filton College. The new group will be called the Pegasus Academy of Performing Arts, honouring the Engine produced in Filton by the Bristol Engine Company, then Rolls Royce when it acquired the firm in 1966.
Pegasus' first project will be Pegasus Winterguard and will be under the direction of Amy Noon. Rehearsals for the Open Class guard have already begun, but will start in earnest on the weekend of the 28th-30th November with the arrival of the guards show designer Jeff Wroblewski from the USA.
Pegasus plan to launch an A Class guard in the near future, whilst Cadets will begin after Christmas at a local primary school.
Filton College has over 300 students studying the Performing Arts, with over 100 studying dance. Kevin Hamblin, Principal of Filton College said "Filton College is proud to offer its full support to the launch of the Pegasus at its WISE Campus. The College is delighted to support community groups and initiatives in South Gloucestershire â" especially those that are linked to our specialities of Performing Art and Sport.
Colour Guard is a tremendous pastime for young people. Not only does it keep them active, it is a highly technical performance art. The Pegasus Winterguard will be supporting our Bristol Flyers Basketball Team and other sports as well as competing in the WGUK national competitions.
We would like to thank Cllr Roger Hutchinson for his support and for the support of Filton Town Council for the establishment of this new group.
Pegasus Winterguard meets at Filton College's WISE Campus on Saturday Afternoons from 12 noon. New members are now welcome for the A Class guard, although there are a limited number of spots available in the Open Class for experienced performers. Further details are available from Amy Noon at amy_louise_noon@hotmail.com.
Plans for future Pegasus projects are now well underway and details will be released shortly, as will the address of the Pegasus website.
