New junior drum corps In Wisconsin
Wisconsin's newest junior drum & bugle corps has just been named. They will be The Chippewa Valley Brigade. The corps' sponsor, The Chippewa Valley Drum & Bugle Corps Association, has been in operation since September and has the successful developement and management of the corps as its sole purpose in life.
The organization began as an idea which grew out of a reunion of the Eau Claire Scouts, Eau Claire Boys and The Sundowners which took place last summer. The corps started becoming a reality this fall when weekly informational meetings showed that all of the necessary factors needed for a corps were in place in the region.
The Chippewa Valley Brigade membership will be made up of the youth from the region known as the Chippewa River Valley of west central Wisconsin. This region contains several high caliber competitive marching bands. The corps plans to work cooperatively with these groups for the betterment of all.
The first major event will be a Kickoff Fund Raising Benefit to be held at Destini Artworks in Eau Claire on February 19, 2005. Another major project is the return of the home contest, Drums On The Chippewa, in late July. This will be a Drum Corps Midwest show.
The Brigade will march parades for the first year and will take to the field when they are prepared for Division II competition.
