The Cadets change name to Holy Name Cadets
In recognition of the Cadets' 75th Anniversary next year, George Hopkins, Director of the Cadets and the CEO of Youth Education in the Arts, announces that for the 2009 season, the Cadets Drum Corps will perform as the 'Holy Name Cadets'.
"The Cadets are very much aware of their heritage and of the greatness the corps has provided young people for decades and decades. In marching as Holy Name, we hope to give praise and recognition not just to the members of the Cadets through 1957, but to the Garfield Cadets, the Cadets of Bergen County, and today's Cadets", said Hopkins in making the announcement.
The exciting news comes exactly one year in advance of when the Cadets will hold their 75th Anniversary celebrations in New Jersey. The weekend of July 31 through August 2, 2009 is already slated to be the grandest series of events the organization has ever orchestrated. With planning well underway, the Cadets invite alumni, donors, fans and their families to a long weekend of events in Northern New Jersey that will likely include a gala, a reception, a mixer, exhibitions by the 2009 corps, a pool party and a Cadets' hosted drum corps show.
