Stafford Lancers announce 2008 show 'Evita'
The Stafford Lancers have announced their 2008 show: 'Evita'. Filled with straight jazz, Latin tangos, modern pop, stylish waltzes, orchestral operas, chorale ensembles and everything in between, 'Evita' is a musical score packed with passion and energy, emotion and movement.
Music arrangements are by Jay Howard (brass and percussion), Adam Lowes (drums) with visual designs by David Milton (visual design) and Jenna Riley (choreography). Musical Director Jay Howard said: "We wanted to explore different avenues of music (for the members), although trying to stick to our big production banner and Evita seemed to tick all the boxes!"
'Evita' is an opera based on the life story of Eva Perón, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Perón. Eva Duarte was born in 1919, illegitimate, poor, without privilege. She became the most powerful woman her country had ever seen, the First Lady of Argentina at the age of 27. She died in 1952 of cancer, aged just 33.
