A European color guard and indoor percussion organisation has been
formed. Drum Corps France (DCF), Winter Guard United Kingdom (WGUK),
Color Guard Nederland (CGN) and the Royal Dutch Music Federation (KNFM)
have taken the first steps for the new organisation on September 24th,
2006 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
The new organization, that remains nameless for now, wants to promote
color guard, winter guard and indoor percussion throughout Europe and
bring it to a higher level. First of all there will be an exchange in
education. The founders will share knowledge and host joint events for
judges and instructors. One of the goals will also be coordination
between the circuits and growth of the activity everywhere in Europe.
Although joint competitions in 2007 will not be one of the primary
goals, it could be one for the future. There are several other projects
in the works that will be discussed in the next meeting.
Several countries that could not attend the meeting have expressed
interest in joining the new organisation. They will be included in the
talks that should lead to a more formal organisation.
DCF, WGUK, CGN and KNFM are proud of the formation and will work hard
to carry indoor percussion and color guard in Europe to a higher level
in the future.
