DCE 2006 Champions: Jubal, DrumSpirit, Jong Jubal
You couldn't have wished for a more exciting finish than displayed yesterday evening during the climax to the DCE Open Class Finals 2006 in Rotterdam. Jubal Drum & Bugle Corps has been crowned as the new DCE European Open Class Champion. It was a closely fought title, as the difference between the champions and the number two, Northern Star, was minimal - 0.05 points. In the Percussion Class, DrumSpirit won for the second year in a row, with Jong Jubal coming out strongest in the Cadet Class. You couldn't have wished for a more exciting finish than displayed

in Rotterdam. Jubal Drum & Bugle Corps has been crowned as the new
DCE European Open Class Champion. It was a closely fought title, as the
difference between the champions and the number two, Northern Star, was
minimal - 0.05 points. In the Percussion Class, DrumSpirit won for the
second year in a row, with Jong Jubal coming out strongest in the Cadet
Class.
There was a real sense of tension and excitement yesterday in the
Sparta Stadium. Jubal scored 84.55 points with 'The Chase', enough for
European gold. Though Northern Star were able to win the Prelims
earlier on, they were a hair's breadth away from victory in the evening
(84.50). Bronze went to the Senators who were only two tenths behind
the champions (84.35). Last year's winners, Beatrix, had to make do
with fourth place this time around (83.05).
In the Percussion Class, it was the Belgians who captured a second
consecutive win. With a score of 70.90, DrumSpirit had enough to stay
ahead of the competition while Rhythm Stars came second with 68.10
points. Jong Jubal were able to take home the DCE champions flag for
the first time ever after achieving a score of 61.10.
