The Buccaneers extended their 2012 title during the Drum Corps Associates Open Class Finals on Sunday in Annapolis. The corps managed to win with a strong lead.
In the Open Class Prelims, the Buccaneers were ahead of the number two corps, Minnesota Brass, by more than one point. Where the Buccaneers improved their score in the Finals, Minnesota Brass lost out on 0.05 points so their score fell slightly. That cost the corps from Minnesota their second place, because they were overtaken by Caballeros, the corps that placed third in the Prelims.
With 98.43, the Buccaneers finished head and shoulders above the rest of the participants. The Caballeros came second (96.98) and Minnesota Brass came third (96.65). The Empire Statesmen took fourth place (94.15), followed by Cadets (93.75). Scores and recaps can be found on www.dcacorps.org.
