DCE Close Up (5): Jochem
In the DCE Close Up series you will meet the DCE personnel. Who are these people behind the scenes who offer their leasure time to run drum corps events? In this episode we'll meet Jochem Lenting.
Name: Jochem Lenting
DCE function: ticket inspector
Age: 17
Residence: Oost-Souburg (NL)
Study: "I will soon start with a training for social work. I want to become a teacher."
Drum corps history: "I was in the Blue Spirit Cadets from 1997 to 1999, and played the spoprano. Then I joined Johan Friso, where I playes the baritone. After a few months with Juliana, I decided to quit as a playing member. I just didn't have enough time for it.
Working for DCE since: "Contest Dordrecht last year."
Why? "I didn't find enough time to march, but I want to be involved in European drum corps. Being a DCE staff member is less time consuming, but this way I'm still enjouying all contests. My mom Anita is also active for DCE as a help desk staff member."
Is it fun off the field? "It's wonderful. Being a ticket inspector, I meet a lot of people. And I'm always close to the competition arena, so I can watch the corps performances too."
Greatest drum corps memory: "As a marching member, my greatest memory are the KNFM Finals in 1999 with Johan Friso. We won the Cadet Class that year. The DCE Championships 2005 in Rotterdam were also amazing, it was great to see so many corps together."
