In the DCE Close Up series you will meet the DCE personnel. Who are these people behind the scenes who offer their leasure time to run drum corps events? In this episode we'll meet David Baden.

Drum corps history: "I started in 1987 with Oranje Nassau in Flushing, playing drums. In the 80s we participated in Drum Corps Holland, but the corps folded and I moved to Blue Spirit in Middelburg. This corps merged with Juliana in 1999."
Working for DCE since: "The beginning, 2000."
Why? "I joined DCE because I thought it was a great concept. In 1999 stopped marching, but I really missed the activity. With DCE, I'm involved in drum corps again and it's great."
Is it fun off the field? "I like it very much. I help visitors with their reserved tickets, and assist corps during the contest day. Staff members need to be infomed if there are any last-minute changes in the schedule. The the judges tapes need to be at the right time at the right place. It's all part of my responsibility. Sometimes you have to deal with stressed corps members or spectators. But since I work at a store, I'm able to handle these situations."
Greatest drum corps memory: "Performing at the 1995 DCHolland Finals in the Galgenwaard Stadioum in Utrecht with Blue Spirit is my greatest drum corps memory. The greatest DCE moment was the Championship event last year. There was a wonderful drum corps sphere at the Sparta Stadium in Rotterdam."
