Drum Corps Planet says farewell to Mike New
After 13 months at the helm of Drum Corps Planet and all its sister sites, site director Mike New has announced his retirement from his role as leader of the popular drum corps discussion site. As of Friday, August 19, George Dixon has been reinstated as the site's owner and director.
"I especially want to thank Mike New for all his hard work and dedication to the Drum Corps Planet project during these past months and years", says Dixon. "He will be missed."
Mike joined the administrative team shortly after founder George Dixon established the website to help promote the drum corps activity. He began as a forum administrator and was promoted quickly as his skill and creativity grew more apparent. His calm demeanor and fairness are trademarks of his tenure.
"I've learned a lot from my time here", New said. "I know my life will never be the same but I'm looking forward to applying what I've garnered from this experience to my next venture." Mike's next project will marry the skills and creative energy he developed at DCP with his passion for pipe bands. It's his hope to develop a discussion and sponsorship site for the local pipe band he belongs to.
Drum Corps Planet is the leading drum corps forum website in the world, with more than 13,000 registered members.
