6th Hove to leave the military-style look
6th Hove from Sussex will be taking the field with an exciting new look. The corps is the first in the UK to take steps away from the military-style uniforms favoured by most groups and has opted to perform without headgear so that the performers can engage with the audience and express themselves more.
The corps' 2005 production is entitled 'Green Torino' - drawing its inspiration from the decade in which the corps was born (1970s), the decade of style and cool, of funk and soul and jazz. 'Green Torino' is all about performance and real music - music that you can feel - that touches you heart mind and body. It's a completely original 6th Hove production inspired by the funk, soul, jazz and rock legends, TV cop shows, gung-ho attitude and skin-tight t-shirts of the seventies.
The corps will be playing on its strengths, pushing boundaries and conventions and taking its special talent to the masses. "We aim to give the members and audience a production they can enjoy, which will develop and grow and push every person's abilities to thrive and mature as performers", says corps director Philip Clegg of 6th Hove. "We will build for our future, innovate, educate, entertain and seduce those around us and have a damn good time in the process."
