Former Carolina Crown instructor becomes show designer Black Knights

Publish Date: 11 Oct 2013 - 5479 views

The Black Knights from Gravesend has appointed Andrew Ebert, a former instructor of Carolina Crown, as their show designer for 2014. Ebert will join the corps staff in the week before the DCE European Championships.

Andrew Ebert began his marching career with the Glassmen, where he marched for four seasons including time on soprano and as drum major. Then he moved to the Blue Devils where he aged out as a Mellophone player. After aging out in 2004, Andy became a staff member at Carolina Crown. He was moved in to the role of Visual Caption head at age 24 for the 2007 season, a position that he held for five years. During his time as caption head, Crown went from 8th at DCI finals to 2nd in three years. He is currently the visual designer for the Madison Scouts and the Casper Troopers.

In addition, Ebert is also making the trip from the US to join the corps at their base in Belgium in the run up to DCE 2014. For the first time the Black Knights will be spending the whole week in Belgium leaving the UK on the Monday after DCUK Finals. "I am extremely excited to be joining the Black Knights family', Ebert said. "I've been a fan of DCE for years and am greatly looking forward to working with the team to make an entertaining and competitive programme. Here's to a great 2014!"

Ryan Gledhill will be the new Visual Caption Head for the Black Knights. Gledhill has been in the drum corps activity for fifteen years and is very excited to take on the position as visual caption head for the 2014 season. He has been a marching and staff member at Black Knights for the past four years and has also marched three seasons at The Cadets ageing out in 2013, which included a World Championship win in 2011. Gledhill is very excited for the future of the corps with the new management team and members coming through.

Those who are interested in being a part of Black Knights can contact Mark Jeffrey 07531 660184 or email seniorcorps@blackknightsuk.com.
