37th Kingswood present 2005 show
The 2005 show of 37th Kingswood Drum & Bugle Corps has been announced. The new program is called 'A Day in the Life of a Jazz Lover', including some well known jazz pieces.
The show pieces will be 'Numero Uno' (Louis Bellison), 'A Night in Tunisia' (Dizzy Gillespie), 'Summertime' (George Gershwin), and 'Autumn Leaves' (Joseph Kosma). "Close your eyes and imagine the smoky underground bars and the concert halls", says the press release of 37th Kingswood. "Follow our journey of the 37th Jazz lover as he visits his favourite small Jazz club to chill out after a hard days work." Rhythms of latin percussion cue the start of this 'journey'.
The Latin Jazz performance provides the sight and sound as the visual colours strike the audience with a passion. The vibe from the complex rhythms affecting both performers and the audience set the scene. Moving on to his next gig, the jazz player meets someone that he accompanies to a Jazz cafe. The soulful tones of Gershwin's 'Summertime' draw out emotions between the two which sets the scene of the beginning of something special. As the music builds uncomfortably, so does their attraction. So much so that they kiss, the music suddenly goes quiet, and then erupts into the conclusion of this part of the journey, celebrating and bonding this new relationship.
The last stop of the night, a concert by his favourite big band providing some great full on jazz excitement. Mixed with a talented percussion section the corps moves to draw to the end of our production.
