Drum Corps Europe has acquired the domain name drumcorps.eu. The domain was originally registered by a domain hijacker, but this company has given it up the domain name.
The domain names with the .eu extension were launched in 2006, and at the time Drum Corps Europe tried to get the domain name drumcorps.eu. Unfortunately, the domain name was allocated to a domain hijacker from Cyprus.
After a few years, the company appears to have realised that there was no money to be made from drumcorps.eu and it gave up the domain. With the help of Dimitri Provoost, DCE then managed to acquire the domain name after all.
For now, www.drumcorps.eu is a compacted version of www.drumcorpseurope.org. For example, the European score overview is available both at www.drumcorpseurope.org/scores and at www.drumcorps.eu/scores. This applies to the entire website.
DCE is still looking into whether drumcorps.eu will be used in other ways in the future. DCE's domain name portfolio is now complete, with drumcorps.eu providing a simple way to reach the main site, and drumcorps.org.uk, drumcorps.nl, drumcorps.de, drumcorps.be, drumcorps.fr and drumcorps.it allowing direct access to the news in the language of the visitor's choice.
