Nexus and Encore partner to launch junior corps
The Nexus organisation and Encore Drum & Bugle Corps have formed a partnership to launch a new junior drum corps unit to be based in Sandy, Bedfordshire. The launch sees the Encore name return to youth marching music activity for the first time since 2003. The corps previously had a very successful history as both the 1st Sandy Scout & Guide Band and latterly as the independent Encore including 3rd place finishes in the Drum Corps United Kingdom championships in their last two competitive seasons.
The new junior corps will be under the direction of Barry Barker and design and instructional support will be provided by staff and members of Nexus Drum & Bugle Corps. They will be based at Sandye Place Middle School, in Sandy, Bedfordshire and rehearsals are Monday evenings from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Membership is open to anyone from the ages of 6 upwards.
