WGUK goes to Ireland
On Sunday 6th March 2011 the Irish Marching Bands Association will be sponsoring a winter guard contest - the first in Ireland for over 10 years - at the Irish National Basketball Stadium in Tallaght Co. Dublin.
Winter Guard United Kingdom will be sanctioning this contest and will be providing the judging panel and the IMBA would like to extend a welcome to all UK and European colour guards to come to Ireland and enjoy their hospitality whilst helping promote the activity to new units across the Irish Sea.
Mark Gutteridge, WGUK Chairman, commented "I am pleased that we are able to help another country as they embark on creating their own circuit and would encourage units to seriously consider adding this date into their schedule for next season.
IMBA Secretary Oisin Molloy added "We at IMBA are delighted to be bringing winter guard to Ireland next spring. We have not had a winterguard show in Ireland since the 90s and this new venture with WGUK will hopefully revitalise this great activity on our side of the water."
