Poynton Commodores looking for sponsor
The Poynton Commodores are looking for a truck sponsor. The corps is trying to raise £3,000 and have offered to paint the names and logos of local businesses on the side of the vehicle in exchange for help.
The two-year-old Mercedes truck needed a new engine and clutch and had to be raring to go for the competition season beginning in June. So dedicated corps director Karen Muskett dug deep into her own pockets to pay for the repairs, but she now needs the money back urgently.
Karen, 50, who lives on Park Lane - Poynton, is begging for help from her local business community and said: "There's 60 children who aren't hanging around the streets corners and are being kept busy. It has just been a nightmare with the truck breaking down." The huge instruments â?? which includes a concert marimba, 6ft xylophones and huge bass drums â?? take two hours to load into the truck.
The band already have £1,400 pledged from local businesses and last week Poynton Parish Council donated £250 to the truck fund and will ask for the council name to be painted on the side. Anyone who can help the Poynton Commodores should contact the corps. (Source: drumcorpsplanet.com/macclesfield-express.co.uk)
