Beta version of DCE iPhone app popular download
The beta version of the DCE iPhone app, which was available from September 2009 until last week, proved popular. The app, which provides the most recent drum corps news stories, was downloaded 300 times in total. This was confirmed by the developer of the application.
In September 2009, the beta version of the DCE iPhone app went live. Because the app still contained some flaws, Drum Corps Europe did not announce it as version 1.0, and the app remained in the beta version until the bugs in the software were fixed. Despite this, the app was popular, having been downloaded 300 times in total.
"This is a great number when you consider that we haven't advertised it", says Marco Janssen of Drum Corps Europe. "We wanted to make sure all the bugs were sorted out before announcing the availability of the app." User comments on the beta version have led to improvements being made.
"We recommend that users of the beta version download version 1.0 from the App Store, because version 1.0 is a completely new app. The beta version will not be updated in future."
It is not yet known how many times the version 1.0 DCE News app has been downloaded to date.
