Pegasus 'Go back to college' for 2010 season

After a successful inaugural season in 2009 Pegasus Academy of Performing Arts are pleased to announce that they will be fielding 3 units in the 2010 WGUK circuit where they will compete in Open, A and Cadets classes.

Pegasus are again using the excellent facilities of Filton College, who have made the group so welcome since it was formed last year. This partnership has lead to an exciting new development for the 2009/10 academic year as it is now possible to study guard at the college. Filton's Head of Dance and Pegasus Staff member Natalie Slater has started a Colour Guard class as part as part of a BTEC National Diploma in Musical Theatre. Whilst this is common place in America, it is thought that this is the first time this has happened in a UK college. Students will be performing with Pegasus in the WGUK season, using the experience to build individual portfolios to complete their course work.

Membership of Pegasus is also open to non-college students and rehearsals for Open and A Class will begin on Saturday 19th September 2009 at 1pm when Pegasus officially launch their 2009/10 season.

The Open Class show will again be written and taught by Jeff Wroblewski from the USA who gained worldwide recognition for his visual designs and teaching with the Star of Indiana and Cavaliers. As well as serving on the WGI Steering committee & WGI Colour guard Advisory Boards, Jeff has designed and directed many Winterguard units with great success including Franklin Central, Nolan Independent, Chesterton and Warren Central.

Jeff will be coming to Bristol to teach the show and camps will be held in October and November, allowing for members who are currently involved with the Drum Corps and BYBA seasons. For further information on Pegasus Winterguard please contact Amy Noon at amy_louise_noon@hotmail.com.

Filton College and Pegasus will be hosting there own Winterguard show in the sports hall at the college on Sunday March 7th 2010. This will feature guards from all over the country as well as the 3 Pegasus groups.

Pegasus have also formed a brass section which meet at Filton College on Monday evenings. Plans are already underway to produce a stage show in partnership with another West Country group and it is hoped this will take place early in the New Year.
