European guard/percussion organization forming
Representatives of several European organizations have commited to explore the possibilities to form a European Alliance for color guard and indoor percussion. The organizations will soon meet to talk about this.
Winter Guard United Kingdom, Drum Corps Germany, Vlamo, Drum Corps France and Color Guard Nederland/KNFM will be among the organizations that will meet. Of course, this is just a meeting to lay-out the ideas and see what the various organizations feel should be done. "Most organizations will have to discuss this internally anyway", CGN secretary Peter Jan de Werk says. "CGN will host the first meeting to see under what conditions closer cooperation can start."
There's no intent of having European competitions other than the WGI European Regional in 2005. First, all the organizations will discuss the format and the goals to be set for the short- and longterm cooperation.
It's the first real attempt to come to European winterguard and indoor percussion cooperation since late 1980s. A name has not been given to the organization yet, as the input of all partners needs to determine the direction the new organization will be heading.
