Eklipse to go inactive due to financial setback

Publish Date: 14 Dec 2004 - 756 views

"With instrument companies waiting in the wings, with kids from all over the country wating until our auditions date arose, I received some devastating news yesterday." Executive director Brad Deason of Eklipse Drum & Bugle Corps tells about recent unfortunate happenings at his corps, causing Eklipse to go inactive in 2005.

"The bank that I had been dealing with since the first week of November decided to push our lending date late into January. What this means to the real world is that we would not get our instruments until early March or at the latest early April. All of this was very unexpected and not at all in line with what the administration was presented in the beginning. Without even being able to start camps until April the staff has decided it would be best to wait until the 2006 season to debut.

These are the problems that were in front of us: not being able to even being the audition process until April, not being able to see anyone to start sizing for uniforms until May or later, and not being able to give the members any time to get money put together (you would have 1 month to get $800 into our hands). Walking into the season with only three monthly camps and 2 weeks of everyday's to get our show done - simply impossible.

I above everyone is very frustrated by this. Remember that this is a 23 year old dream of mine and that dream in my hands. It is still there, just that I'll have to wait another few months to get it. Look for audition announcments for the 2006 season to be released in mid-August."
