New drum & bugle corps for Coventry
Spirit of Coventry is a new drum & bugle corps based in the Wyken area of Coventry. Spirit is a non-profit making youth marching band with a mixed sex membership, recruiting from anyone aged 7+. The corps plans to do UK competitions in 2008 as well as carnivals, fetes, parades and concerts.
Spirit of Coventry offers complete tuition in music theory, practical playing, marching as well as supplying instruments and uniform all for a nominal weekly subscription of £1.50. Instruments available range from drums to trumpet, mellophone, baritone, contra bass and xylophone, marimba and vibrophone.
Tuition is given by adults with numerous years of experience in marching bands. Rehearsals initially will be Wednesday Evenings 7 PM until 9.15 PM and from October, Sundays 10 AM until 2 PM.
