DCI teams up with WGI for live internet broadcasts
After bringing live streaming video of Drum Corps International major events to drum corps fans during the 2006 summer season, DCI teams up this spring to bring the WGI World Championships to fans on the Web.
Drum Corps International (DCI) is pleased to partner with Winter Guard International (WGI) to offer live video webcasts of performances from the 2007 WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. On 13th-14th April and 20th-21st April during the WGI color guard and percussion championships, fans will have the opportunity to catch all of the action from the convenience of their computer's web browser.
"This marks a milestone for WGI to provide Internet broadcasting of our world championships for all those not in Dayton this year", said WGI Executive Director Ron Nankervis. "Our strategic partnership with DCI on this project was a logical step since we share so many performers as well as fans."
Content will be delivered in a pay-per-day format that will allow a single viewer to login to the broadcast anytime throughout one entire competition day. Viewers can join performers live from Dayton, but in the comfort of their own homes.
"The goal of this webcast is to offer an affordable way for all fans who can't make the trip to Dayton the chance to join in the action of the World Championships", said WGI Marketing Manager Bart Woodley.
