DCE proud of international list of participants
Drum Corps Europe is delighted with the list of participants for the DCE Championships 2007. "Next year, the event will have an even greater European influence", says Chairman Marcel Matthijsse. "Not only will an additional country be represented thanks to Millennium, but the overall group of participants is also becoming increasingly mixed."
Next year will be the seventh time that the DCE Championships will be organised. "Not only do we see a steady rise in the number of visitors, but the number of applications is also on the increase", says Matthijsse. "The event will be attended by all the top corps of the Netherlands, the UK and Germany. Additionally, it will be great to welcome corps from Italy, Belgium and Sweden, where there is no drum corps competition yet. Due to the large number of applications we have again had to draw up a waiting list for next year."
Despite the waiting list, DCE has decided to reduce the number of participants from 26 to 22. As a result, the Championships will begin at 10 AM next year, as opposed to this year's start time of 9 AM. "We weren't doing anyone a favour starting so early", says Matthijsse. "Neither the spectators nor the corps. Even though it will always be busier in the evening than in the morning, it seemed like a good idea to start an hour later."
The day will begin as usual with the Prelims of the Open Class. The top 10 will win a place in the Open Class Finals, which will take place in the evening. In the afternoon, the Cadet Class and Percussion Class championships will be held.
Discussions are currently in progress regarding the location for 2007. DCE hope to provide clear details on this shortly.
