Concord switch to mixed-key brass instruments
Concord Drum & Bugle Corps will be making the switch from 'G' to mixed-key brass instruments for the 2007 season. With an ever-increasing number of corps in the United States making the change, the cops is aware that eventually the supply of American-made 'G' bugles and spares will cease.
Concord also have an extensive corps development plan that will see their members playing in many different forms of music - including performing in combination with other groups - the majority of which will be in Bb. Finally, of course, the new key will line up with the 'standard' British system and the music programmes taught in schools.
As traditionalists and long-term supporters of the original form of drum and bugle corps, we mourn the eventual passing of the ubiquitous 'G' instruments but Concord need to face the future and their development as an overall musical ensemble.
