Southern Aurora 2007: 'A Journey in the Dark'
Southern Aurora from Brighton have announced that their 2007 production will be taken from The Lord of the Rings. The show is entitled 'A Journey in the Dark'.
The score will be taken from the pieces 'The field of the Pelonnor' (Return of the King), 'The Uruk-Hai' (The Tow Towers), 'Anduril' (Return of the King), and 'The White Tree' (Return of the King).
Neil PNeil Palmer will design the show. Neil was a founder member of Southern Aurora, he has performed and instructed over the last 11 years. Neil was also part of the visual team in 2005 when Southern Aurora performed the very successful 'Means of Access' show. Neil will be assisted by his brother Danny, who until last year was the main driving force behind Aurora visual.
The music will be arranged by Joe Huls. Joe is alumni of the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps where he marched for five years (2000-2004). He has been teaching, writing drill and music for Northview High School from Grand Rapids - Michigan. He also writes drill for Mt. Pleasant High School, Central Michigan University, Chippewa Marching Band, and is involved in winter activities writing drill and staging for the Reeths-Puffer High School Winter Drumline and the Interplay A Guard from Grand Rapids.
Joe takes great joy from writing drill and music and watching such talented performers bring them to life. Southern Aurora are very excited at the prospect of working with Joe thought-out 2007.
The show will be launched in December at their official start day, at which Joe will be running a brass clinic. The clinic will be open to all comers, although numbers will be limited to the size of the venue. More news on this will follow very shortly.
