In the DCE Close Up series you will meet the DCE personnel. Who are these people behind the scenes who offer their leasure time to run drum corps events? In this episode we'll meet Wim Boone.
Name: Wim Boone
DCE position: ticket sales
Age: 53
Residence: Oost-Souburg
Occupation: Mechanical Woodwork Technician
Drum corps past: "None. I've never played myself but have always helped out with the equipment at Blue Spirit. I found it interesting to help out at a music corps, just to have something to do."
With DCE since: "The beginning."
Why? "Because Blue Spirit ceased to exist and I'm not someone who can sit still and do nothing. Afterwards, I belonged to Expression for a short while before progressing to DCE, where I've always been busy with the equipment and also sell tickets at the kiosk."
Do you enjoy being off the field? "Yes I do. I haven't done anything different. I also help to set up the judges tent, install the cabling and lighting, and help to mark out the field. In general, the contact with others is great."
Best drum corps moment: "I wouldn't really know off hand. I don't really see much of the corps, usually only the Olympic Retreat. I enjoy all the work surrounding it. I sell tickets, which is fine with me. The atmosphere makes it so much fun."
