West Side Story for Distant Thunder 2005
Distant Thunder are proud to announce their 2005 program. This will be the most challenging to date and will feature the music of Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story. The band is looking forward with anticipation to the 2005 season and truly believe that they will be able to project this wonderful musical onto the competitive field.
The music will include 'Dance at the Gym' as an opener, 'America' to include a percussion feature and a medley of various tunes for the closer. "Distant Thunder wanted a challenge for 2005 and the belief is that following Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story will take us to the next level and offer the students a unique insight into the music of Bernstein", said Visual Co-Ordinator Steve Allen.
The corps for 2005 will hopefully be larger than 2004 and is already looking at marching a wind line of 24, percussion 9, guard 10 and pit 9. Distant Thunder are interested in possibly marching more than one DCE show in 2005 and are in active discussions as a unit to accomplish this.
