Sponsors and members of the Dutch in DCI Foundation
raised the money in less than the six months the organization has been
in existence. They see this as a great first step toward the permanent
support the Dutch in DCI Foundation seeks to offer. A selection
committee decided on three applicants for the $300 scholarships:
Harry van der Berg is a euphonium player with Phantom Regiment. He is a
21-year-old rookie ageout. He was active with the Kamper Trompetter
Korps and Beatrix Drum and Bugle Corps in the Netherlands. Van der Berg
is studying accounting at the Windesheim in Zwolle - The Netherlands.
Manon Zuijdervliet is a member of the color guard with Crossmen. She is
a 19-year-old rookie. She is active in winter guard, the Pride from
Huizen. Manon is studying social pedagogical services at the Hogeschool
Utrecht - The Netherlands.
Frank Wienen plays trumpet with Santa Clara Vanguard. He is an
18-year-old rookie. He was active at UDI Assen and Showband Marum in
the Netherlands. Wienen finished high school this year.
All three winners will report on their experiences with DCI every three
weeks on the Web site www.DutchInDCI.com. The scholarship winners will
be honored at the Dutch in DCI banquet on Saturday, October 7th, 2006,
in the Netherlands. (Text: dci.org)
