2nd Annual Southern Preview in Bedfordshire
Marching bands, drum corps and jazz ensembles will come together for an evening of music at the second annual Southern Preview show to be held at Stratton Upper School in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire - UK on the evening of Saturday 6th May.
The event was launched last year to allow youth marching bands to preview their shows for the upcoming season and was a great success with bands and supporters attending from all over the country. This year the event has expanded with the addition of two senior jazz ensembles and makes the evening more diverse.
Featured performances this year will be the 1st Sandy Scout and Guide Reunion Band, the Band of the 11th Northampton Boys Brigade, Distant Thunder Show Corps, Kickin Brass, and Jubilee Jazz.
The 1st Sandy Scout and Guide Reunion band made their public debut at the event last year and went on to great performances round the country including the Sandy Carnival and Remembrance Day.
The Band of the 11th Northampton Boys Brigade also performed last year. They are the former National Boys Brigade Champions and finished second in the same competition last year.
Distant Thunder Show Corps from Sharnbrook near Bedford is another performer from last year. Distant Thunder went on to finish the season as undefeated champions of the British Youth Band Associations Division 2 as well as runners up in the Drum Corps Europe A Class.
Kickin Brass will make their public debut at this years show. They are a new jazz ensemble from Essex. Made up of former and current marching band members they will be performing a mixture of drum corps classics and popular numbers.
Jubilee Jazz is one of the best and most respected senior ensembles on the circuit Jubilee Jazz will bring their mix of drum corps tunes and classic numbers to the Southern Preview for the first time.
The event starts at 7.30 PM and tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £3 for under 16s. The evening will also include a licensed bar and a disco to round off the evening.
