European judges in Germany for training
Drum Corps Germany and Drum Corps Europe will be jointly organising the second edition of the training weekend for European judges, to be held over the weekend of 4th-5th February. Last year, the judges training was organised by DCE in the Netherlands. Around 20 participants will be coming from Germany, the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands. The clinic will be held in Neustadt am Rübenberge, in the host country Germany.
The two-day training course will be given by Bob Thomas (Director of Education for DCE, the Florida Federation of Judges Association and the Ohio Judges Association; and a judge for DCI, WGI, DCA, and Bands of America). Once again, he will be brought in from the USA specially for this event.
During the two-day clinic, all aspects of judging drum corps will be examined. Bob Thomas will be covering topics such as the scoring process, the judges' manual, the points ratio between the sub-captions, analysing and comparing corps, the judge's role as 'teacher, adviser and critic' and the objective of recording onto tape.
