Cadets brass instructor joins Kidsgrove brass staff
Craig Walker will be joining their instructional team of the Kidsgrove Scouts this season. He has been an instructor with The DCI World Class corps The Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps for the past eight years.
Walker will join Kidsgrove’s Musical Director Tez Smith along with instructors Danny Goodier, Greg Hampson and Mark Cresswell, as the corps brings together their 2015 production, 'The Stone Circle'. He has over 25 years experience of European drum corps. In 1988, he began his marching career with Dagenham Crusaders as a soprano player before moving to Blue Eagles in 1989. Craig then travelled to the USA in 1996 to march mellophone with The Cadets.
His teaching career started in 2000 with The Senators where he achieved the DCUK High Brass caption on six occasions and a DCE High Brass title. Since then Walker has taken on the roles of Brass Supervisor for Dagenham Crusaders and Consultant at Black Knights.
"I am excited to join the Kidsgrove Scouts where there is a huge amount of talent, both on the staff team and within the membership", Walker said. "The 2015 production already looks to be an exciting one for drum corps and I am looking forward to helping wherever I can."
Musical Director of the Kidsgrove Scouts Tez Smith added: "We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Craig to the Kidsgrove Scouts brass staff. Someone with his wealth of experience and depth of drum corps knowledge can only enhance the level of tuition the members are receiving and ultimately help bring the 2015 brass programme to life."
