World record team drumming: 31 hours in, all is well
Nine members of the Forgemen percussion section are in the middle of a challenge to break the World Team Drumming marathon record, which currently stands at 100 hours. Everything goes well.
The members are drumming in three teams of three drummers, each group doing 8 hours non-stop drumming each day, then handing over to the next group. "The guys are in good spirits, and not too much wrist trouble as yet", Lee Court of the Forgemen said. "Tesco have been fantastic, they have been feeding them and have provided a quite room for those who are not on shift to sleep. Not many people can say they have lived in a Tesco superstore for a week I bet."
The local media have been down yesterday and will be running articles in the Sheffield Star over the next few days. Tommorow and Monday, a promotion team from Redbull will be spending some time with the guys, pumping them with product and cheering them along.
In addition to the 9 guys going for the team record, member Lee Whitehead is attempting to break the individual record, by drumming non-stop for 80 hours. He is only allowed a 15 minute break every 8 hours.
