Southern Aurora enters DCE competition
Southern Aurora from Brighton - UK will enter the Drum Corps Europe show in Kortrijk - Belgium on June 25. The corps will participate in the Open Class. Aurora is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.
The corps was founded in November 1995, and competed in the British Youth Band Association (BYBA) for the first time in 1996. Four years later, Southern Aurora also competed in the DCUK circuit and became DCUK Champion in 2002.
At the start of 2003, the corps was unable to field an 'A'-corps, due to a lack of both staff and members. The decision was made to amalgamate what was left of the A' corps with the Cadets, and to enter DCUK Junior Class. 2004 has seen the continued redevelopment of Aurora, the corps moved up to A-Class, from Junior. In Kortrijk, the corps will enter the Open Class.
The program of Southern Aurora is called 'Means of Access', composed and written by Danny Palmer and Neil Pentecost.
